ENTRY PROCESS
Note from this year, all entries must be made online. Duo and Team of Four entries will be accepted on a “first in first served basis” and will require 100% completion including Support Boat and Escort Paddler details.
If and when registrations equal the quota set for this year’s event, registration will close.
CLOSE OF ENTRIES
Due to the requirement that ALL entrants have a representative at our briefing, we do NOT take entries on the day. All entries must be received by 5pm Thursday January 29..at the lastest; please note that the earlier you enter, the easier it is for us!
As you now have the option to enter online, this does give late entrants extra time, however if your entry is a manual one, please post it to ensure we receive it by 5pm Thursday January 29.... Note that as we are required to place orders for race shirts well in advance of this date, we cannot guarantee correct sizes for entries received after January 16.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
The safety of all competitors and support crews is paramount. The Safety Committee will be responsible for making a decision on the weather conditions. As a guide, if the wind is in excess of 15 knots from a Northerly direction and the swell is greater than 1m prior to the start then the race may be abandoned.
IF the race is cancelled every effort will be made to select an alternative date, which will in most cases be the following Saturday, February 7 If the weather is again unsuitable there will be no 2008 race. In either case the organizers have NO obligation to provide a refund to entrants as costs associated with running the event will have been expended at that time.
REFUNDS
All applications for a refund must be made by 19th January 2009. An administrative fee of $22.50 incl GST will be retained per entry.
INSURANCE
ALL insurance is the responsibility of the competitors.

RACE BRIEFING for SKIPPERS and swimmers.-Skippers are strongly encouraged to attend.
The 2009 Bloody Big Swim Briefing provides information on support craft management and swim rules and regulations.
The briefing will be held at the Frankston Life Saving Club Rooms on the foreshore at Frankston Beach on January 30th 2009.
The race briefing is from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm. A race briefing pack including all race information will be issued at the briefing. The 2009 race shirt, swim caps and boat numbers will also be available for collection.
A representative for each entry – preferably the skipper - MUST attend the race briefing regarding the event rules and regulations…..it is highly recommended that the skipper of the support boat attend so they are aware of the support boat drivers’ responsibility, particularly at the start line and finish line. Full race instructions will be provided at the race briefing.
Note: All entries must include support boat and accompanying paddler details.

Note:
In addition to a Support Boat, EVERY entry
MUST have an Escort paddler.

paddler is the first and closest safety
link to each swimmer, and also assists
with direction, the boat is support and backup to both swimmer and paddler.

Support
Boat Options
All
entries require support boat information
and will not be accepted without these
details being complete. See safety
for more information.
The
following sites can be used to assist
in finding a support boat.
It is normal practice to offer to at least pay fuel costs for your support boat.
