2008...our 4th, and Greatest, Bloody Big Swim...

Congratulations to all swimmers, who completed the 2008 Bloody Big Swim.

Great weather, great day.... and great spirit, from all who participated. Good to see the teamwork from all entrants, with a special thank you to all the escort paddlers and support boat captains who made the day possible for our swimmers.

Thanx also to our sponsors ColorPak and 2XU; our partners, the Frankston and Mornington Life Saving Clubs, and the Frankston Volunteer Coast Guard....and finally, thanx to the Bloody Big Swim Crew of volunteers without whom the day would not have been possible.

Reflections on the 2007 Bloody Big Swim

...and while you're considering the next swim, here are some memories of our last swim, which was held Saturday February 3, with a record field of just under 200 swimmers, and more than 500 supporting Escort Paddlers, Support Boat Captains and crew....What a day!!...plenty happening.... with the great start in reasonably good conditions around noon, that broke up around an hour later as the wind turned SW with gusts around 20 knots... and then the finish in near perfect Bay conditions off Mills Beach Mornington... something for everyone! .... and great to be able to finally get the event under way after postponing it from the orginal date the week before due to inclement weather.

In varying conditions, first across the line were the 2XU team, Haydn Tierney and Hayden Rydberg in a time of just 2 hours 31 mins and 52 secs, followed by the first Team , the O'Donnell family, Louise Ellard, David, Clare and Mark O'Donnell in a time of 2 hours 46 mins and 13 secs, with the first Solo swimmer home being Michal Skrodzki in a time of 3 hours 9 mins and 20 secs; the first female solo swimmer home was Chloe McCardel in a time of 3 hours 19 mins and 9 seconds.... Congratulations to all them, and to everyone who completed the swim...here are our 2007 winners, the Haydens...
